Dark green grassy foliage to about 14". Spikes of purple or white flowers rise from the clumps in spring or summer, followed by black or white berries. Establishes easily in fertile soil, but is tolerant of less than ideal conditions. Grows in sun to shade with regular watering. Excellent ground cover, especially in shady gardens, or to edge beds and paths.
